Mitchells Funeral Directors

Rutherglen, Glasgow G73 1JE An independent firm with further funeral homes in Springburn, Royston and Nitshill/Pollok.

Mitchells Funeral Directors is an independent firm based on Chapel Street in Rutherglen, with further funeral homes in Springburn, Royston and Nitshill/Pollok. Its website advertises a range of branded funeral packages: The Bells unattended direct cremation at £1,975 (including the cremation fee) and an attended version, also called The Bells, at £2,300 for up to 20 people; the Glenfiddoch funeral service from £1,900; and the Famous Grouse funeral service from £2,500, which the firm describes as its most popular. Separately, its published Standardised Price List gives the funeral director’s charge for an attended funeral as £1,675, itemised below; gives £800 for an unattended cremation (funeral director’s charges plus the cremation fee, a figure that does not match the currently advertised Bells package); and states that it does not offer an unattended burial. Mitchells states that Edinburgh funerals incur a £200 surcharge, and that its Bells package carries a further £150 surcharge outside Glasgow, due to larger crematorium fees. It does not charge for the funeral of a child under 17.
