Terms of use

Farewell Compare is a free information and price comparison website for funeral directors in the Glasgow area. It offers nothing beyond that comparison — there is nothing to buy, nowhere to book, no account to create, and the site stores no data of its own. These terms explain what that means in practice, and what we and you can each rely on.

Agreement to these terms

By using this website you accept these terms of use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. See also our privacy policy, which explains how the optional “email me this” and “get listed” forms are handled.

What this site is — and is not

Farewell Compare exists solely to bring together funeral directors’ own published prices for the Glasgow area, in one place, so they can be compared calmly. That is its entire purpose.

The information on this site

Prices and details shown for each funeral director are taken from that firm’s own published figures — typically its Standardised Price List, or the equivalent pricing on its own website — and each listing shows the date those figures were last checked.

We take reasonable care to record these figures accurately, but we do not independently verify them, we do not control when a funeral director changes its prices, and third-party costs (such as cremation or cemetery fees) can vary. Information on this site is provided “as is”, for general guidance only, and should not be treated as a quote, offer or guarantee. Always confirm the current, full cost directly with the funeral director before making any arrangement.

We are independent and not affiliated with any funeral director listed. A listing marked “Featured” is a paid placement, always clearly labelled; it never changes the price shown, never ranks above a nearer or more affordable option, and is never applied when you sort by price or rating.

Pre-paid funeral plans

The pre-paid plans page is educational: it explains, in general terms, how pre-paid funeral plans work and what different plan types typically include. It is not financial advice, and nothing on it should be read as a recommendation to buy a particular plan or from a particular provider.

Any link through to a plan provider takes you to that provider’s own site, where you would be dealing with them directly, on their own terms. In the UK, pre-paid funeral plans are a regulated activity, and you should only take out a plan with a provider authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) — you can check a firm’s status on the FCA Register. Where we do link to named providers, we may in future earn a commission for doing so; this is always disclosed on the page and never changes the price you would pay the provider.

Third-party links

This site links to funeral directors’ own websites, plan providers, and other outside resources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or the way they handle your data once you leave farewellcompare.co.uk. Visiting a linked site is at your own discretion and subject to that site’s own terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Intellectual property

The text, layout and design of this site belong to Farewell Compare, except where stated otherwise. Funeral directors’ own names, logos and pricing information remain their property; we display them for the purpose of fair, factual comparison. Photographs are used under licence from Unsplash.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Farewell Compare accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, your reliance on information shown on it, or your dealings with any funeral director or plan provider found through it — including, without limitation, any loss arising from a price, availability or service detail being out of date or inaccurate. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes

We may update the site, these terms, or the information on it at any time, without notice. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute relating to them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
